If I use the wallpaper change to change the wallpaper, it sometimes succeeds and changes my wallpaper, but usually does not.

I have a similar problem: changing the wallpaper usually works (default KDE wallpapers), but after rebooting this setting is gone and the background is just white.

That isn't the bug I reported. When I select a new wallpaper, the change does NOT take effect. however, I also have the problem reported by Daniel K

Tony and Daniel K,

Try the packages of 4.0.1 when they are made available from your distro, the blank screen issues has been fixed.  Open a new bug if you see it come back.

As for this bug report, do likewise, but re-open this bug report if it happens in the new packages.

4.0.1 and the bug is here, change the wallpaper then the background goes white
