After doing this, on the desktop the 'box' remains, on the panel it removes the box. Nick
Created attachment 23307 [details] Showing desktop and panel selection boxes Here, you can see the selection boxes on the desktop - this is always there unless I 'select' over it again with left mouse click box. The panel one will always be active (i.e. every time the mouse pointer goes to the panel, the selection box will stick to the mouse and resize as I move).
this was a bug in qt and is fixed.
