Version: (using KDE 4.0.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc OS: Linux I write my own plasma applect and for testing purposes I installed in my kde4.0 machine. The applet is still problematic and gives an "Applet Creation Error" in desktop. If I add it to desktop I can remove it with the X button. In panel though there is no option to remove it with right click, although I can remove other applets from panel. Notice that even I add it to desktop or panel there is no instance showing on the "Add applet List" so I cannot remove it from there also.
there is both a context menu as well as the add applets menu. for testing, btw, you may want to try plasmoidviewer instead.
Sorry to re-open your bugs, but: If I get a "This object could not be created" message, right-clicking on the text of the message should let me remove the applet. This currently doesn't work. It means that panel applets that are borked can only be removed if you can find them in the list (which means you need to know the applet's name, which is not provided in the error message) You get the idea.
there is already an open BR for the panel case.
