Version: (using KDE 4.0.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages I'm using kubuntu 7.10 with kde4 packages provided @: http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu When I try to use the "display" option in systemsettings-kde4 it crashes. Sometimes it will work, seems to depend on the setup of the xorg.conf file. I have an nvidia card and am using the nvidia commercial drivers.(provided by ubuntu). the backtrace is as follows: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". Created attachment 24454 [details] Crash log (with debugging symbols) I can confirm this with KDE4.0.3 on Ubuntu Hardy. I have a Nvidia card, using the latest binary drivers installed via EnvyNG. I'd give you the exact model but Hardware Information crashes too ;) KRandrTray starts fine, although I haven't tried actually using it.
It doesn't do this anymore in 4.1.
2.6.25-gentoo-r7 #1 SMP Sun Aug 24 21:26:57 CEST 2008 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux Nvidia 8400 Mobile If xinerma is enabled in xorg.conf it crashes if i start systemsettings->display Even xrandr is not loaded correct. So i get the error that xranr extensoin is not loaded if wanna use xbacklight or something that use the xranr. Without xinerama disablde systemsettings->display and also xrandr works fine. Is it a nvidia, xorg or kde Bug?
