Version: 0.50.0 (using 4.00.00 (KDE 4.0.0), Kubuntu packages) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-rc5-zen1-x86 Popup notification appear in the middle of the screen. While in KDE3 they appear only in the screen corner, in KDE4 they appear at random places, normally in the central column of the screen but at random height. Also sometimes Kopete keeps showing popups for incomming messages even if the active conversation is in front.
I suppose this is due to notify plasma widget. When I play with adding/removing widgets to dashboard or moving them, the position of popup changes.
I don't know but I don't have any widget in the desktop, I only have applets in the panel.
$> grep -B4 -A1 notif ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc [Containments][3][Applets][7] geometry=2388,8,48,48 locked=false plugin=notifier I'm not a plasma guru, but one time I had to look into config
jose@ubuntu-desktop:~$ grep -B4 -A1 notif ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc [Containments][2][Applets][7] geometry=1080,8,48,48 locked=false plugin=notifier In KDE 4.0.1 I noticed that it now appears in the middle too but at least it appears always at the top of the screen. It's getting better, I think.
This issue also happens when running Kopete of KDE 4 from a KDE 3 desktop.
There are two types of notifications: knotify displaying a KPassivePopup (centered in the top of the screen stacking up when new ones appear) and, if installed, an experimental "Notify" plasmoid replacing these popups. I'll mark this as a duplicate of bug 159513, which also mentions both issues of popup placement and popup messages appearing even if the active conversation is in front (the notify plasmoid is out of kopete's scope). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 159513 ***
