Description Elias Probst 2008-01-18 03:15:42 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I'd like to see the following changes regarding removable devices (CDs/DVDs, USB-Sticks, SD-Cards, etc.) in the 'Hard Disk Monitor' applet:
* Update the volume list of the applet, as soon as a removable device is mounted (could the applet receive a notification via solid?)
* Show the according icon in front of the volume, not the hard disk default icon
* Provide an 'Eject' or 'Safely Remove' button on mouseover for removable volumes

Also the default value for 'Update interval' should be set to a lower value like 5 minutes. The current default (30 minutes) is IMHO way too much.

The safely remove action would be useful in the device notifier - at the moment to remove my external hdd i have to find/open a Dolphin window and do it from there.
Another option would be to optionally provide an icon on the desktop, with a safely remove button in the icon "wrapper" (not sure what you call it).

Now, there's a "Safely Remove Drive" button in the Device Notifier plasmoid :)

Re-assigning this bug to widget-systemmonitor where it actually belongs - devicenotifier has all mentioned features.

Could anyone update this bug with the current state of the diskmonitor applet in 4.3?

yes, all these things are implemented.
