Description bkorb 2008-01-17 19:38:40 UTC
Version: 1.6.6 (using KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: N/A N/A
OS: Linux

I also have a right hand scroll bar that gets smeared with
red from highlighting the right border with red. It both
looks ugly and requires a larger font size in order to be
able to read through the smearing. (It's a new, expensive
monitor that otherwise looks crisp and clear, so I do think
it is due to my eyes not liking red next to black on a white
background.) So, I wanted to turn off the fancy stuff and
stick with black on white. That does not seem to be allowed.
If you are going to add new default behavior, please also
allow someone who does not like it to easily determine how
to disable it. Thank you.

Can you attach a screenshot please? I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "highlighting the right border with red", but it isn't an intended feature.

Ever since "xv" disappeared from the Linux distros, I've not known
how to do a "screenshot". I can describe the algorithm: The first
non-blank after white space and every "/" character is red, plus the
right hand margin is also reddened if it is not immediately preceded
by non-white space. That reddening extends for about half the width
of the scroll bar width. I do not think this is bash because I get the
same effect with vim (with coloring turned off). This is new behavior
with my new installation of SuSE 10.3. Thank you.

Never mind. #-( I did more testing and it _is_ a monitor failure issue.
Please close and pretend I never started this. :) Thanks.
