Description Jason B. 2008-01-17 19:13:46 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
Compiler: GCC 4:4.1.2-9ubuntu2
OS: Linux

When Choosing the Screensaver for the first time and clicking Test, it uses a default setting, when you end the test, go to setup and change any of the options and click save, it forgets all of your changes and unchecks all three boxes as well as forgetting the slider positions (this differs from the settings when it's run for the first time.)

It will remain completely misconfigured until you delete fireworkxrc in ~/.kde4/share/config
It then goes back to using a default configuration.

This works properly in KDE 3.5.

I'm using Kubuntu 7.10 with KDE4 installed from the deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu gutsy main Repo.

same for me - I noticed this behaviour with matrix screensaver. I had to delete glmatrixrc.

Can you still reproduce this bug with a recent KDE (4.1.3 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2svn) ? Thanks :)

Kubuntu 8.10 running KDE 4.1.3 has fixed this bug for me.
Checked `The Matrix` and it's saving settings properly too.
