Description Karol Pucyński 2008-01-15 02:34:06 UTC
Version: 3.5.8 (using KDE 3.5.8 "release 31.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.13-0.3-default

"Load plugins on demand only" option doesn't work anymore. It has no matter if the option is checked or not, flash plugin is loaded automatically. In earlier versions everything was working fine...
Comment 1 Dexter Magnific 2008-01-17 14:00:57 UTC
I can confirm this behavior. With the 3.5.8 version, this option has no effect and plugins are always loaded.
Comment 2 Francisco Olarte 2008-02-02 20:41:51 UTC
I can confirm the behaviour too. Plugins always loaded.

Konqueror 3.5.8, KDE version: 3.5.8
Gentoo Linux kernel 2.6.23-gentoo-r6, SMP, x86_64, Intel Core 2 6600
gcc version 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2)
Comment 3 Dima Ryazanov 2008-02-12 06:26:55 UTC
Same here. I think it started happening when I upgraded nsplugins so it works with the new flash.

Comment 5 Gerd v. Egidy 2008-02-27 23:02:25 UTC
I just tried it with 3.5.9 (Fedora 8 on x86, updates-testing repository):

now the plugin isn't started anymore when "on demand" is selected. In previous versions there was a button to manually start the plugin. This button is not there, instead I see an empty grey area where e.g. the flash plugin should be when visiting youtube.
Comment 6 Alan Jenkins 2008-03-06 22:09:17 UTC
I can confirm this behaviour.

Ubuntu bugzilla #189525 <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/189525> also has another instance of "Gerd v Egidy"'s problem, which is slightly different but sounds related.
Comment 7 Alan Jenkins 2008-03-06 22:15:15 UTC
It looks like this is a flash specific problem. I bet it has something to do with the hacks that had to be put in to get the latest version of the flash plugin working (originally it only worked in Firefox due to XEmbed usage and general nastiness). I've no idea how the fix works though.
Comment 8 Torquil Macdonald Sørensen 2008-03-08 21:37:38 UTC
I have this problem in KDE 4.0.2
Comment 9 peppelorum 2008-04-03 21:33:33 UTC
This bug exists in 4.0.3 as well.
Comment 10 Alan Prescott 2008-04-21 18:18:07 UTC
Problem exists in KDE 3.5.9 under OpenSuse 10.2
Comment 11 Christophe Marin 2008-06-02 00:46:28 UTC
Still present in trunk (svn rev. 815196)

eg. with flash animations : the button appears but the animation is loaded without action.

And suddenly, Konqueror is again my preferred browser - a big thank you for this! Works great in the latest nightly build.
