and what makes you believe that this has something to do with kdm (the kde login manager) or kde in the first place?
Give me a while and I will get more details of the events. Hi again I am a first time Linux newbie. I started to install MEPIS 7.0 from a purchased CD (we are still on dialup). It booted OK but after logging in to MEPIS 1 demo "application KDESKTOP crashed and caused Signal 6 SIGABRT send but report" so that's what I did. Since then I borrowed a MEPIS 6.5 CD which installed perfectly. Can you give us any more information on how we can reproduce this bug, or any more details of the problem. There isn't really enough information here to be able to find the bug.
What information do you need? I just inserted the CD purchased from MEPIS Store. The first message is the login menu for "demo" - demo is the PW - then the crash error appeared. I have replicated it a number of times, but only on this computer.
Please attach the backtrace from the crash handler.
I think I will continue with the other disk, which works OK. Thank you for listening to me Kerin
Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
