Version: (using KDE KDE 4.0.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Both Kickoff and the Traditional menu applet seem to not acknowledge the existence of my Wine sub menu. Instead, it takes everything that I had in the Wine sub-menu and every sub-menu inside it and lumps it all together inside a "Lost and Found" sub menu. Oh, and as an aside when you have a ton of stuff in Lost and Found like I do, the Lost and Found sub menu take 15 or 20 seconds to load. o_O KDE 3.5.x handled the Wine sub-menu fine.
I remember this bug was reported for suse's kickoff as well, and they fixed it...See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331598
This bug is still valid for Kubuntu. I tried it with Gutsy KDE 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 as well as Hardy 4.0.1 and 4.0.2. The only entry in the Wine folder Kickoff recognizes is one I added manually through kmenuedit when still using KDE 3.5.8. All menus and entries added by Wine are placed in the lost and found folder.
This is working fine in trunk.
With 4.1 just around the corner, it's time to close off 4.0 bugs. In the off chance that I'm wrong in believing this to be fixed in 4.1, please reopen. :)
As of 4.1 beta 1 this bug is still present. Entries from the Wine submenu still go to the lost and found menu.
sorry, this isn't a kickoff bug, a plasma bug or probably even a ksycoca bug. it's like a packaging bug; but kickoff simply shows whatever ksycoca tells it to and ksycoca just follows the fd.o menu spec these days.
