Description Thibaut Cousin 2008-01-13 15:44:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 4.0.0)
OS: Linux

This bug seems to be new to KDE4. I have a 16/10 (wide) screen, while most wallpapers are in 4/3 format. In KDE3, background images could be displayed with the maximum size that still respected their ratio.

In KDE4, this option seems to exist, but it doesn't maximize the size... Is it a bug or a missing feature?

Thanks for your attention.

Thank you for your bug report.
This bug can not be reproduced using the current development (SVN)
version of KDE. This suggests that the bug has already been fixed.
The bug report will be closed.

Anyway, please be sure you're using the 'Scale and Crop' positioning.

Ehm, sorry, I wanted to close it as WORKSFORME.
Comment 3 Thibaut Cousin 2008-01-13 17:30:32 UTC
I'm using OpenSUSE RPM packages, which are supposed to be slightly more recent than officiel KDE 4.0.0.

And I'm using the "Scale and crop" option. But it doesn't seem to be taken into account for slideshows.
Comment 4 Marco Martin 2008-01-13 18:26:32 UTC
also from a yesterday's trunk all the resizing settings works only with a single wallpaper and not a slideshow
Comment 5 Thibaut Cousin 2008-01-13 18:29:12 UTC
So there is a little regression here, compared to KDE3. Maybe this bugreport could be reopened, as a reminder to fix this later?
Comment 6 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-01-13 20:09:55 UTC
@Marco: in the config dialog, yes, the widgets do not move. in the code the settings are used even in slideshow mode.

and yes, that was a post-4.0 change. the widgets will also be following to a shared area so that it's more obvious.

To Aaron: sorry to bother you again, I was going to report another wish/bug and then remembered what you wrote Marco in Comment #6.

At the moment there doesn't seem to be any relation between the settings for one wallpaper and the settings for wallpapers in a slideshow: they are in different views of the dialog, and the former aren't honored in a slideshow.

Do you mean that this is fixed in post-4.0 and that display settings will be common to both one wallpaper and slideshow?

Thanks. :-)
Comment 8 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-01-14 09:04:48 UTC
display settings in the code already are common to both wallpaper and slideshow.

the ui is going to be worked on to reflect this as well; i saw jpwhiting talking about that just the other night on irc.
Comment 9 Thibaut Cousin 2008-01-14 09:07:09 UTC
Great. So there's no need for another bugreport. Thanks again. :-)
