Description Fred van Zwieten 2008-01-06 13:29:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

We need better rich text / html text / whatever support in kmail composer. Why not use kword as a kpart in the kmail ocmposer or something like that. True, there is some support for it, but it's not enough by far. I want to cut&paste richt text into it, I want to drag pictures into it, I want nice background stationary, I want htnl signatures, I want a good and modern mail client for KDE. Ive searched KDE bugzilla and it has a LOT of entries which all boil down to much more natural support for things other mailers have for quit a while. I don like Outlook (express), except for it outstanding handling of these issues. If we want Joe User to switch to Linux we need to make it more friendly and modern. I want my Wife to like kmail. I want my boss to like kmail. Let's try and make kmail cool again for KDE 4.1!

I think we should invalidate this wish.

kword is not appropriate.
However, quanta might be.

We once investigated making a quanta part and using that in the composer, but that didn't go anywhere.

In any event, we kdepim folks know that better HTML composing is needed.

I agree.
The reporter already mentioned several HTML improvement wishes on b.k.o.
