You are using the KDE4 version but you don't know how you installed it? Did you really intend to use the KDE4 version?

It does not crash on startup for me.
Please turn on debugging information and re-test with a clean config file and reopen this report if you have more information.
Comment 2 Neil Bishop 2007-12-28 14:37:48 UTC
The programme is installed by manufacturer on a Linux Asus Eee PC 701. It
is labelled as PIM, and opened through the Work, Accessories menu options.
When I try to open it it does not open, but offers a tabbed screen with
an error message 'signal 11 (SIGSEGV)' on one screen, and a backtrace on
the other screen. I included the backtrace on the original email. I am
not familiar with this computer or Linux, so I have not been able as yet
to access more informtion. More information is not available through the
programme itself as presented on the desktop.

The KDE4 information I provided may not be correct, as I have no idea what
it means. I had to provide some information, or I could not proceed to
the next screen and report the problem.

Thank you,

Neil Bishop

>Asus Eee PC 701
Ah ok, I see.

The EEE PC normally comes with KDE 3, not KDE 4 (KDE 4 is in fact not released yet). However, the text "Version: (using KDE KDE 3.97.0)" indicates that you somehow installed KDE 4 on your EEE PC. However, "/usr/lib/kde3/libkontact_kmailplugin.so" also indicates that you have KDE 3 installed, I guess you mixed the libraries somehow, which leads to conflicts.
I recommend removing the KDE 4 version again.
Comment 4 Neil Bishop 2007-12-28 18:00:49 UTC
Thanks for the explanation. The software was factory installed. Are you able to tell me what KDE4 is, codiny to remove it? Does its removal affect other programmes?

Thanks

Neil
