Version: (using KDE KDE 3.97.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux I have been running various RC of KDE. The Oxygen theme looks very odd in 16 bit color. It looks GREAT in 32 or 24 bit color. While I would like to run in 24 or 32 bit color those systems not correctly set up or those limited to 16 bit color for various reasons (like my laptop) are stuck with a bit of a mess. I really like it full color. Perhaps some way for it to degrade nicely at lower color depths could be found? If KDE is to be installed on embedded systems/Mobile Internet Devices at some point this point is likely to require solving when porting Oxygen. Great work on Oxygen.
I don't think we'll ever support 16 bit with the oxygen style. I'll leave the bug open and accepted though. Just don't expect much happening.
I agree that the bug can be lived with or another theme used. It is good it is flagged though. Cheers, Kevin On Wednesday 26 December 2007, Casper Boemann wrote: [bugs.kde.org quoted mail]
As a workaround, if you still want to use oxygen in 16bits, you can turn off (or lessen) the gradients: systemsettings->appareance->colors->contrast If you set the contrast to zero, oxygen will become largely flat. That should help in 16bits mode. Feedback welcome. Feel free to close the bug if you're happy enough with the result.
