Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources As I explained on #153498, when switching between windows using alt+tab and having the window-list enabled I don't get a proper outline of the window-border as I get in KDE3. This largely reduces the usability of that window-list, especially with windows that have the same title or titles that start with the same words. It really slows switching windows down, when I have to read each entry in that list just to make sure I hit the right window.
Hi, as there's not even a comment I'd like to know what the chances are this one gets fixed without me trying to port this myself? Its really almost the only issue keeping me from using KDE4, which is a shame seeing thats soooo sexy :)
There were complaints about the outline in KDE3, which is why I didn't find it a very high priority to port it to KDE4. It'd probably still make sense at least for the Alt+Tab variant for panels which Plasma devs want for 4.2.
I'm not sure what you mean with "Alt+Tab variant for panels", however for me this is the only way to identify to which of my 4 open konsole's I'm switching. I know there's support for raising the widgets while switching with alt+tab, but at least on my machine thats far to slow to be usable and it breaks the z-order of my windows (IIRC) How about having this as an option that defaults to off?
I was trying to say that the code would be needed for KDE4, and I'd consider it even for normal Alt+Tab, after I see it.
