Version: 3.5.8 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8) Installed from: Unspecified Linux Compiler: gcc 4.2.2 OS: Linux I want to print in pamphlet (4 pages per sheet, duplex). When printing with kprinter (from kpdf for example) I can select "Properties/Filters/Add filter/Pamphlet Printing (use with small side duplex printing)". I then select the "Properties/Duplex Printing/Short side" option. The printer then prints 2 pages per sheet, single sided. The printer seems to forget the duplex option. kprinter's filter for pamphlet/booklet seems to be "psbook" from the "psutils" package, available at http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~ajcd/psutils/index.html What can be wrong?
Did you even use the "duplex" option in your kprinter dialog settings?? ...as the filter description reads: "....(use with small side duplex printing)"!
Of course, its in my 2 sentence: "When printing with kprinter [...] I can select "Properties/Filters/Add filter/Pamphlet Printing (use with small side duplex printing)"." When I enable this option, the duplex option is ignored. I think (if I recall correctly) that only recto side is being printed: the verso side pages are not printed at all.
I found this page trying to figure out how to get pamphlet printing working. Same settings as the OP; Pamphlet filter with short-side duplex option selected. Pages printed out as (front | back) (8 1 | blank ) (2 7 | blank ) (6 3 | blank ) (4 5 | blank ) Seen with KPDF from KDE 3.5.7 on an HP Color LaserJet 4600 v3010.107 Postscript driver. The two-step process of "print pamphlet to pamphlet.pdf" and "print pamphlet.pdf to printer" works correctly.
KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
