Description Pradnyesh Sawant 2007-12-10 04:23:01 UTC
Version: 1.6.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

When i enter a long command on the prompt, the overflow comes on the same line overwriting PS1

Also, if i'm already on a long (overflown) command, and i press a backspace (anywhere on the command), the prompt line starts moving upwards, and the previous lines also are overwritten by the garbled command.

I cannot reproduce this myself. Do other terminal programs (eg. xterm, rxvt, gnome-terminal) exhibit the same problem?
Comment 2 Pradnyesh Sawant 2007-12-11 05:16:58 UTC
Yes, xterm and rxvt too are exhibiting the same problem. I don't have gnome installed, so couldn't test on gnome-terminal.
Is it possible for me to send a screen shot to you so that it may be easier for you to understand the problem...

As you can see, the 1st command worked properly. But when i tried adding 3 more
"very"s to the same command, the line moved upwards overwriting everything that
was already there. The same thing is happening in xterm and rxvt also.

In which case this is very probably not a bug in Konsole.

Some suggestions:
- Try different shells (such as zsh, fish, tcsh) to see if there is any difference.
- Look in the Debian bug tracker for similar bugs.
