Description Jürgen 2007-12-09 22:55:12 UTC
Version: 1.9.6 (enterprise 0.20071012.724442) (using KDE 3.5.8-7.fc8 Fedora, Fedora release 8 (Werewolf))
Compiler: Target: i386-redhat-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.23.1-42.fc8

Hallo,

I'm using KMail, within the KDE-desktop, running on my server (the PC I'm writing the report at the moment), and viewing the KDE-desktop with a VNC-Viewer from another computer. Both computers are in a local network, connected through a router.
If I open another window, from another application, which is covering the KMail window completely or partly, there are afterwards, when choosing the KMail-window again, horizontal lines/stripes in the "File" (lefthand) and "Subject" (righthand) field (I've german labels headlinig the fields, then called "Ordner" (left) and "Betreff" (right), don't know if it's important).
Already tried out other VNC-Viewer in different operatingsystems, other VNC-Viewer-settings etc. but always the same mistake. This bug only appears with KMail, similar apps like KNode are running correct.
When using the KDE-Desktop directly, without VNC, KMail behaves in a correct manner.
An earlier Version of KMail didn't show this mistake (well I recently updated from Fedora Core 4 to 8).

Hope you can help me and I could have helped to make things better ;-) ,
with kind regards,

Jürgen Fortkamp (from germany)

Perhaps a hint:
Easy way to reproduce the error, is to open the KMail-window (of course while running in the VNC-window), then minimize the KMail-window and reopen it immediately.

Greetings, Jürgen

I doubt that these errors are the fault of KMail.
KMail uses the standard list views (KListView) of KDE.

Hi Thomas,

yes you're right. I now tried a lesser new version of VNCServer (Version 4.1.2-3) and it all works correct again.
So the bug might probably be in VNCServer, not KMail.

Greetings, Jürgen

No bug in KMail, should probably be a bug in VNCServer.
