Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from:    Unlisted Binary Package
OS:                Linux

This happens when I use the selection area in the Desktop/Konqueror or Dolphin. I marked as KDE bug, because dolphin also is affected.

The selection windows is opaque, and after I'm done selecting, it just stays there. The only way I can "draw" the desktop again, is by dragging icons over the marked area. Here is a link to a screenshot:

It seems that you're using a composite window manager like compiz, right?
Do you still have this problem using KDE 3.5.10 (and the updated version of your composite window manager) ?

Sorry but neither Dolphin for KDE3 nor Compiz are supported in this bugtracker.
Anyways.. the reports lacks of feedback. Closing
