Description Nadav Kavalerchik 2007-10-29 22:23:23 UTC
Version: 0.9.2-final (using KDE 3.5.7, Debian Package 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-5 (lenny/sid))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.21-2-686

while downloading 200+ images i switched to digikam's main gui
to see the pictures and almost immediately i started getting "error downloading images from camera" messages.
if i stay with the camera dialog open and just wait to for the images to finish downloading all goes well :-)

switching windows to main digikam window causes these errors.

Nadav,

There is no reason to have error here. I work also like this. I start download in background and play with Album GUI at the same time without problem...

Somebody can reproduce this problem ?

Gilles

I cannot download images at all from my Canon Powershot A95 with this same version (0.9.2-final (using KDE 3.5.8 on Kubuntu 7.10). I have another machine with 0.91 and Kubuntu 6.10 (same AMD64 machine architecture). It downloads just fine.

If I start digikam from cmd line I see lots of these:
Exif orientation tag set to: 1
File 'IMG_5812.JPG' is not readable.
File 'IMG_5812.JPG' is not readable.
File 'IMG_5812.JPG' is not readable

That is to say, that group of msgs for each image file.

i've tried several times to reproduce this issue and i can not :-)

i use a new A640 camera ! it uses a faster USB2 and SDisk ram card, so the pictures are downloading very fast compared to the other A95 camera i had.
maybe it was a timing bug ? (i use to have something similar two years ago, with an older version of gphoto)

also, i'm unable to minimize the camera dialog because it does not have a minimize option ;-) so i move it aside and work with the main gui and still all
goes without error.

so let's close this issue.

plus... supper thanks Gilles for the "Download and Delete" in one button !!!
very helpful :-)

Thanks Nadav.

I close this file.

Gilles

Note to Jeremy from #2 : it's sound like a gphoto2 issue. Canon camera always use PTP gphoto driver.
