Description Tomas Pospisek 2007-10-19 17:05:59 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-2-686

When I start konqueror from the command line, it spams my console full of:

ASSERT: "!icon.isEmpty()" in /build/buildd/kdebase-3.5.7.dfsg.1/./libkonq/konq_pixmapprovider.cc (81)

That line apears at least once per loaded web page, but usually about 4 times or so.

It's fire and forget (the console from where konqueror was started), because the console becomes completely unusable.

ASSERT: "!icon.isEmpty()" in /tmp/buildd/kdebase-3.5.8.dfsg.1/./libkonq/konq_pixmapprovider.cc (81)

konqueror crashes rarely
for example when tryong to open http://simplestudio.org
Comment 2 Helge Deller 2007-12-02 14:51:42 UTC
crash on http://simplestudio.org happens on Fedora7 as well (Konqui 3.5.8, from kdebase-3.5.8-3.fc7)
Comment 3 Daniel Sutil 2007-12-11 13:57:47 UTC
I confirm that crash on http://simplestudio.org in debian lenny/sid. I think that this problem also cuases that when I use fish in konqueror I get an error in konqueror
Comment 4 Alexander Mette 2008-01-28 19:06:30 UTC
Confirmed on Gentoo with Konqueror 3.5.8 and KDE 3.5.8

I was looking for this "ASSERT:" statement as my Konqueror often becomes unresponsive and the longer it runs the worse it becomes and it is the only hint I got - but I can also reprocude the crash with http://simplestudio.org
Comment 5 Zorro 2008-04-02 08:33:07 UTC
I get the same symptoms as the OP under Konqueror 3.5.8

Reports under various distros:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/122259
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=447078
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=274587

Possible solution in Polish?

If you wanna confirm this one, just google the bug summary.

The bug is not reproducible in KDE 4. Closing this bug as WORKSFORME as that part of konqueror has been reworked in KDE 4 and we won't fix KDE 3.5 anymore. Please reopen if it still happens in kde-4.0.5 or kde-4.1 when it's out. THanks for the report!
