Description Gary Krueger 2007-10-02 17:03:28 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

IBM has a nice feature called "comet cursor", which displays a stream of fading dots behind the mouse cursor when it is moving quickly.

The feature makes it easy to locate the cursor in a rats nest of windows, or in a bevy of display monitors.

In particular, across my 4 display monitors, I typically have a collection of about 40 open windows. And, it takes time to find the cursor every time that I need it.

If the "comet cursor" concept is unavailable, a growing cursor would accomplish the same objective. That is, the mouse cursor would grow with mouse cursor speed over a specific threshold (and shrink back down as the mouse slows).

This would certainly save me time. Especially when the system isn't being responsive. Because I could determine in an instant that the system isn't being responsive (instead of searching for the cursor which may be hiding in a collection of windows that effectively obscure the mouse cursor).

Oops. Meant to classify it as a general KDE wish. Not as a KMail wish. Please reclassify.

Thank you.
