Description Michael 2007-10-01 15:54:34 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I dial-in to the internet via ISDN using kinternet and smpppd. Smpppd runs on a seperate PC. I also use kopete with enabled SUSE smpppd-enabled connection status plugin. Sometimes, kopete does not manage to connect to icq when I go online and the flower is blinking forever. When that happens and I select "Offline" and then "Online", kopete connects without problems. I'm pretty sure it's because the connection plugin reports a ready line to kopete before the ppp protocol has established a ready logical link or before the route entry for the standard gateway is added.

Thanks for your report. smpppd is basically obsolete in KDE 4 due to the new Solid hardware interaction classes which implements the same functionality. Since Kopete is taking advantages of this for network access, we believe this problem to be fixed. If you still have problems with this in KDE 4.0, we encourage you to report the bug at that time.
