Description Sebastian 2007-09-15 18:41:11 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Suspend to RAM/disk is a very usefull feature. I often use it to shut my Linux down in a flash. I can wake the system up easily and come back to my KDE desktop anytime. The problem is the system always resumes with the desktop unlocked. I can't make it ask me to input my password after waking up.

Right click on KPowersave -> configure -> common settings -> screen lock -> mark "lock screen before suspend/hibernate"
Comment 2 Sebastian 2007-09-19 20:34:37 UTC
The problem is "lock screen before suspend/hibernate" is marked on my openSUSE and the system doesn't lock the desktop before suspending.

The very same environment works here without problems. Does it help if you explicitely specify one lock method in the combo box below? Does screen locking work for you at all (e.g. when you leave the machine for some time without anything)? Is screen locking activated at all in the control panel?
Comment 4 Sebastian 2007-09-20 09:57:21 UTC
No, it does not help at all (I specified KSscreensaver, for instance). Besides, screen locking works smoothly.
Comment 5 Rolf Eike Beer 2007-09-20 15:42:37 UTC
This sounds more like a problem with kpowersave (which is not part of KDE). Please ask there for help.

SUSE or KPowerSave specific.
