Description Cédric Brun 2007-09-12 09:12:05 UTC
Version: 0.10.4 (using KDE 3.5.7 "release 58" , openSUSE 10.3)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.5-10-default

Using "powertop" you'll see that Knode is heavily consuming power waking up the processor more than 100 times a second. On my laptop it is the most important cause of energy loss and it represent half of the CPU wakes.

Powertop give the following information :
knode : schedule_timeout (process_timeout)

I've got a dozen of news server setup in my instance.

Fixing this would result as a far longer battery life when using KNode,, right now I have no choice than avoiding using KNode when I'm on battery.
