Description Christopher Martin 2007-09-09 17:22:50 UTC
Version: 1.4.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Whenever an image is saved in Gwenview, the embedded thumbnail is replaced by a new one. This happens even if the user is simply editing EXIF comments, not actually altering the image. Gwenview should only replace the embedded thumbnail if the image itself changes. The current behaviour causes inconsistency, as some thumbnails end up being different sizes than others.

If you say something like http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=32486
it's fixed in svn.
I can't reproduce it here.

I don't think it's the same problem. The user who reported the problem wasn't renaming the files, just editing the EXIF information. Then when he saved his changes, Gwenview regenerated the embeddeed thumbnails. The change wasn't noticeable within Gwenview, which does a good job of making everything uniform. But he was browsing his images in another app, and noticed that the embedded thumbnails in the unedited images (generated by his camera) where now different in size from the ones embedded in the images that he'd edited using Gwenview.

Thanks.

Gwenview does not edit exif info as far as i remember, comment is just kpeg comment. So it isn't lossless, if it is that what you mean. Use kipi-plugins for that.

It also happens, when exif-data will be imported. The embeded thumbnail is replaced by the thumbnail you import from. (I hope you understand)

Is this still valid for Gwenview 4.10 or later?
