Description Ivan Garcia 2007-09-04 13:11:40 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

I have an Acer Orbicam webcam.
#lsusb
#Bus 005 Device 002: ID 5986:0100
the chipset is the M5607, but I guess that all the orbicam have the same problem with Kopete.

Here is the the patch my friend Benjamin did.

http://ivangarcia.org/linux/webcam_yen/kopete.patch

Patch kopete and it will work.

Hello. I'm the maintainer of the video device support code.
Assuming we're talking about the stable 3.5 branch (no info about kopete's version was included in the bug), the patch doesn't apply to revision 704366 (it is for rev. 683877) (http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/3.5/kdenetwork/kopete/), defining HAVE_V4L2 by hand is evil (breaks compilation with 2.4.x kernels) and support to YUYV is already in (as of rev. 704366).
I'm closing this unconfirmed bug because I'm pretty sure this issue is already fixed.
I'd like to ask Mr. Ivan Garcia to try the newest code in the stable 3.5 branch from SVN and report directly to me if things stay wrong, because there is already a (closed) bug about UVC devices that should be reopened (Acer Orbicam uses uvc driver afaik).

Closing.
