Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: Mandriva RPMs I would be nice to be able to split an album into two sub-albums based on the date of the pictures. Scenario: You have a big album with many pictures (for instance a wedding) and you want to organize the picture into subalbums (church, coktail, party ...). You would select a picture and click on "Split into two sub albums" or "Split into two albums". This would create two sub-albums : the first one contains all the pictures taken before the selected picture, the second one would contain all the other pictures.
Created attachment 22450 [details] A first version of a patch to split albums. Here is a first version of a patch, just to have the opinion of the community about this feature. This patch is against KDE3 branch. It adds a new popup menu entry for picture called "Split album into sub-albums". This action splits the album into two sub albums. The first one contains all the pictures before the current picture and the second one all the picture after the current picture. That is my first Digikam patch, please tell me if it looks right. TODO : - I need to generate a new name automatically if Unnamed1 or Unnamed2 already exists. For instance Unnamed2 , ... Unnamed3... - A nice icon is missing. Known BUG: If subfolder view is activated the view is not updated after the creation of the subfolders.

Maik, The patch provided is not to hard and to port to recent implementation. The idea to split file by date PAlbum can be interesting. What do you think about ? Gilles
