Checking the option on the menu Settings -> "Save view changes per folder" makes konqueror remember the view for folders in the hard drive, but not for folders in removable devices (eg, USB disk, even without having removed it: change the view, go to parent directory, go back to the directory, and the view is not remembered).

works in KDE 4.6.4
