Description Elmar Stellnberger (AT/K) 2007-07-28 10:56:48 UTC
Version: 0.5.7 (using KDE 3.5.7 "release 60.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.21-0.25-default

It is not possible to print to a real printer if kpdf is started as an own application. Both of my printers simply do not show up in KDEs print dialogue.
Interestingly this problem does not occure if I start kpdf as a konqueror plugin. Nevertheless it is always possible to select software printers (prn2pdf, prn2ps, faxit)

That happened because the filter printers button had been pressed down by default. Strange. The printer dialogue should not remember it being pressed down. Otherwise we may want to have a zero filter set on default (or at least not one that hides the hardware printers).

Reassigning to kdeprint, as KPDF does nothing special with it.

The printer display filter works as designed (see 'WhatsThis' description for the button with the 'funnell' icon).

It's just unfortunate that the user (by accident?) clicked on it before. Once it is clicked, the setting is kept (of course), until it is clicked again.

Maybe in KDE4 we can come up with a better way (so the user is aware that there are 'hidden' printers too).
