Description Abe Ezekowitz 2007-07-20 04:31:02 UTC
Version: 0.12.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

Periodically, I will get a box pop up that says Authorization request. It asks for a User name and password. It gives me no indication as to which account it's referring to. I currently have 5 (Jabber (google talk), AIM, Yahoo, ICQ and MSN). I'd like to know why this keeps happening and the purpose of this Authorization box.

If you leave MSN disconnected, do the authorization dialog pop ups go away?
Comment 3 Abe Ezekowitz 2008-02-09 13:41:56 UTC
I've never tried that. Do you think that's the culprit?
Comment 4 Matt Rogers 2008-02-09 15:38:44 UTC
yes. the dialog looks like one that comes from KIO when authorization for a site is needed, and msn uses the http ioslave.

I've been running this all day with 0.50.80 in 4.00.85, and haven't had this problem. Is this anything you've run into in a more current version?

We've completely replaced the current MSN implementation with a new MSN
implementation. If you continue to experience this bug after testing the
new implementation (which can be gotten from our subversion repository or with
the KDE 4.2 Beta 1 release), PLEASE, open a new bug rather than reopening this
bug. Thank you for your time and efforting in helping us find and fix problems
in Kopete.
