Description Hans-Olof Hansson 2007-07-17 23:26:41 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.5 "release 45" , openSUSE 10.2)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18.2-34-default

It is impossible to print test pages to printers not in /etc/printcap (i.e fake printers such as "Print to PDF-file"-printer).

For all "special" printers that are created default from the system and such printers I create my self is it impossible to test-print a page. This is because the printer is not in /etc/printcap which is not strange (in it self) because it is a fake/virtual printer and not a real one. But, it makes it hard to test out the printer and ensure that it works as it is supposed to.

Please make it possible to test print also these "fake/virtual" printers.

I'm running suse 10.2, in swedish translation.

Example and error message from the test print command.

hanssh@hoth:~> cupsdoprint -P 'PDF-LBP5200' -J '' -H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'root' -o ' multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-uncollated-copies orientation-requested=3' '/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdeprint/testprint.ps'
client-error-not-found

-H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' is a wrong argument.

Make sure to insert "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" as the setting in

"kaddprinterwizard --help" --> "CUPS Server" --> Host

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
