Description Björn Jacke 2000-11-06 14:55:45 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konsole
Version: 1.0.1 (KDE 2.0)
Severity: normal
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 (compiled sources)

using "select" button of xfontsel works fine for xterm KDE1-Konsole and others but not for
the KDE2 Terminal Konsole. Cut&Paste of mouse selections however works fine even
with KDE2 Terminal Konsole.

From man xfontsel:
Clicking the left pointer button in the select widget will cause the
currently selected font name to become the PRIMARY text selection as
       well as the PRIMARY_FONT selection.

The X Window System® uses two separate clipboard buffers: the 'selection' and the 'clipboard'. Text is placed in the selection buffer by simply selecting it, and can be pasted with the middle mouse button. To place text in the clipboard buffer, select it and press Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C. Text from the clipboard buffer is pasted using Ctrl-V or by selecting Edit->Paste.

...
There's three standard clipboards: The PRIMARY, SECONDARY and the
CLIPBOARD. Another name for such a clipboard is "a selection". So you
say "the CLIPBOARD selection".

It does work in xterm...

Not konsole specific, and this seems to be a xfontsel bug anyway: it doesn't list anything relevant in TARGETS, even though it supports XA_STRING
Comment 4 Henning Westerholt 2005-07-11 23:52:05 UTC
Is this wishlist item still important? It more then five years old, perhaps the feature is now implemented in konsole? Than we could close this entry.
Comment 5 Kurt Hindenburg 2005-07-12 17:39:46 UTC
Well it still doesn't work in Konsole. It may not be Konsole bug, but might as well leave it open.
Comment 6 Robert Knight 2006-08-02 20:22:16 UTC
This bug is five years old - if it is still important to the original author, they can reopen it.
