Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux I need to use knetworkmanager in offline mode when at work (and manually configure my eth interface using a stored profile in manual configuration) to use network cause of lack of a dhcp server. I discovered that even if network is up (eth0 configured) if I'm in offline mode kmail stops working, other programs work correctly I can browse with konqueror and so on... Even re-enabling online mode (and reconfiguring network right way) kmail doesn't work at all. I need to logout and login again to have kmail working. I think that until network-manager won't support static configuration for network interfaces, knetworkmanager should not disable any of network capabilities of other programs. I think here we have a bug (cause online activation doesn't enable again network support in some softwares) and a wish to limit functionality of offline mode that now is useless and dangerous.
Is this the same case as described in this report: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334358 ?
Since that report is closed as Wontfix, I opened the same report for KDE itself, here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158809
There's more info in the other report, so duping to later. Thank you for reporting this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 158809 ***
