Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: SuSE RPMs First Import > Scan from HP 5200 scanner works properly. Scanner window is closed. Later during the same digikam session, a second Import > Scan is attempted. Upon selecting Scen, digikam crashes with a SIGABORT. Subsequent restart of the application does allow one successful scan. A second scan attempt after the restart fails.
Could you provide a backtrace? See http://www.digikam.org/?q=contrib under "If you are experiencing crashes with digiKam". In order to get a useful output, it is, however, necessary to build a debug version. Best, Arnd
which version of hplip are you using? i've experienced less problems with the 2.7.7 version, i believe it's related to hplip and eventually libkscan not kipi-plugins or host application.
Do you know what file name to check? I don't have the scanner with me right now. I should be at the scanner in a few days. hplip is the hp driver to manage hp printers (and multifunction) I believe there is a package installed with that name. Use your package manager and get the answer, or run rpm -qa | grep hplip
I show version 1.7.1-1.pm.1 Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless handheld -----Original Message----- From: Angelo Naselli <anaselli@linux.it> Date: 6 Sep 2007 20:41:36 To:paul_p@bellsouth.net Subject: [Bug 147366] SIGABORT on Second Scan from HP 5200 scanner ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147366 ------- Additional Comments From anaselli linux it 2007-09-06 22:41 ------- which version of hplip are you using? i've experienced less problems with the 2.7.7 version, i believe it's related to hplip and eventually libkscan not kipi-plugins or host application.
Angelo, With a backtrace of crash, we can investiguate easily... Gilles
> With a backtrace of crash, we can investiguate easily... Let's say easier ;) I've tried with old versions of hplip and what i got was a libkscan crash for strange beahviours, related to the hp driver, at this point i can say it, since after upgrading i haven't got them again.... Angelo
> I show version 1.7.1-1.pm.1 Mandriva package hplip-1.6.12-2mdv2007.1 is affected iirc. I tried with new one and i seem not to have by now.
is this bug still present? on mandriva 2008.0 is not now (hplip-2.7.7-8.1mdv2008.0)
Is this bug still present? If not, we will close it.

Private message form Paul: Haven't tried in a while. I leave my scanner at mom's house so I can scan family pics when I am home. I am still on suse 10.3. If there updates past that, I might need to upgrade during Christmas.
can we put this bug in NEEDINFO ? ( the time the reporter can test/update )
yes of course. Gilles Caulier
reporter when you can, test with a newer version ( at least 0.4.0 would be perfect ) and reopen the bugreport if this is still valid ( in all the situation let a comment on this bugreport ) thanks a lot
