Description paul_p 2007-06-29 17:45:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

First Import > Scan from HP 5200 scanner works properly.

Scanner window is closed. Later during the same digikam session, a second Import > Scan is attempted. Upon selecting Scen, digikam crashes with a SIGABORT.

Subsequent restart of the application does allow one successful scan. A second scan attempt after the restart fails.
Comment 1 Arnd Baecker 2007-06-29 17:58:31 UTC
Could you provide a backtrace?
See http://www.digikam.org/?q=contrib under
"If you are experiencing crashes with digiKam".
In order to get a useful output, it is, however, necessary
to build a debug version.

Best, Arnd

which version of hplip are you using? i've experienced less problems with the
2.7.7 version, i believe it's related to hplip and eventually libkscan not
kipi-plugins or host application.
Comment 3 paul_p 2007-09-07 00:06:25 UTC
Do you know what file name to check? I don't have the scanner with me right now. I should be at the scanner in a few days.

hplip is the hp driver to manage hp printers (and multifunction) I believe there is a package installed with that name. Use your package manager and get the answer, or run rpm -qa | grep hplip

I show version 1.7.1-1.pm.1

Let's say easier ;) I've tried with old versions of hplip and what i got
was a libkscan crash for strange beahviours, related to the hp driver,
at this point i can say it, since after upgrading i haven't got them again....

Mandriva package hplip-1.6.12-2mdv2007.1 is affected iirc.

Private message form Paul:

Haven't tried in a while. I leave my scanner at mom's house so I can scan family pics when I am home. I am still on suse 10.3. If there updates past that, I
might need to upgrade during Christmas.
