Version: 3.5.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package Compiler: gcc 4.1.2 OS: Linux I'm getting two syntax errors while building Quanta+, the first: checking for KDE... ./configure: eval: line 30811: syntax error near unexpected token `(' ./configure: eval: line 30811: `echo ${exec_prefix}/lib libc.so.6 => /System/Links/Libraries/libc.so.6 (0xb7eac000)' and during the check for MAXPATHLEN: checking for MAXPATHLEN... ./configure: line 38339: syntax error near unexpected token `do' ./configure: line 38339: ` dirs=`for i in $files; do if test -d $i; then echo $i; fi; done`' this happens with Bash 3.1 & 3.2, if that makes any difference. I'm compiling on GoboLinux (http://www.gobolinux.org) which deviates from the standard directory hierarchy by utilizing lots of symlinks... maybe that's what it's choking on? I manually set the X-paths. The /System/Links/Libraries/libc.so.6 (0xb7eac000) part is autodetected though. checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking for a BSD-compatible install... /System/Links/Executables/install -c checking for -p flag to install... yes checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for kde-config... /System/Links/Executables/kde-config checking where to install... /Programs/Quanta+/3.5.6 (as requested) checking for style of include used by make... Known issue, affects the whole KDE 3.x branch.
apparently a workaround is to pass "--disable-libsuffix" to ./configure
Closing this report as the build system has changed in KDE4.
