Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages This bug shows up when typing at normal speed. Click on a graphic attachment to open it with KView. The file will open with a random suffix appended to the name. "Save As..." is chosen from the File menu and when the dialog appears, the file name is selected. I immediately begin typing the new filename. This is where the problem occurs. My typed text begins to replace the selection. If I'm typing at normal speed, the second character of the input stream is ignored. The first character and the third, fourth, etc. appear in the filename box. Strange. If I wait at least 2-3 seconds after the dialog appears before entering a new filename, the error does not occur. If it has already been saved to disk, the error does not occur. This occurs only if the file has the opened filename with the random characters at the end. (I assume this is a random name for storage in the kde cache dir.) If anyone can reproduce this, perhaps it reveals something deeper. Thanks, Bob
When typing rapidly, the second character will be skipped. If the first key is pressed, pause, then typing resumes input is normal. To clarify, this bug also occurs after waiting if nothing is typed into the filename input box. If typing in a rapid stream, the second letter will be skipped.
Kview is no more mantained/developed. This bug wish will not be fixed until a new developer will work on it. Moreover this product is not ported to KDE4. On KDE4 it has been replaced by another software. I'm closing this bug as "unmantained". I'm sorry. Regards.
