Description Philippe ROUBACH 2007-06-15 11:54:40 UTC
Version: 1.9.6 (using KDE 3.5.6, compiled sources)
Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-14mdv

1. when i create a mailing list "Famille" with the adress of the members of my family

i am asked to select an address book where to put this mailing list.
In the list of adress books there are all of my address books i created but not the adress book "Mailing lists"

2. If i create or not an address book named "Mailing list"
to put my "Famille" mailing list
the following phenomenon occurs :

i create a new mail
then
i click on "select" button at the right of the field "to"
then
in the field "address book" i select "Mailing lists"
then
nothing is displayed
then
i select "All"
i search my mailing list "Famille"
i found it
i can use it to send my mail to my family

You probably mean distribution lists, not mailing lists, right?

>when i create a mailing list "Famille" with the adress of the members of my family
Where exactly do you do this? In KMail? In this case, please describe what exactly you clicked. Or in KAddressbook?

Anyway, point 1) seems logical to me, not a bug. If you want to save a distribution list, you need to tell in which addressbook you want to save it. You are probably confusing address books with distribution lists here.

>i click on "select" button at the right of the field "to" then in the field "address book" i select "Mailing lists" then nothing is displayed
What was selected before you selected "Distribution lists"?

>You probably mean distribution lists, not mailing lists, right?

Yes

>Where exactly do you do this?

in KAB

>You are probably confusing address books with distribution lists here.

i was expected a pre-created object named "Distribution lits" to put my distribution list "Famille"

You mean that any distribution list as "Famille" may be put in any address book ?

>What was selected before you selected "Distribution lists"?

When the window opens(after clicking on "select") the last selection "All" was
already selected then i click on tiny arrow then i select "distribution lists".

Addendum : the object "Distribution list" is a pre-created object, i never created it.

Yes, I think so.

>When the window opens(after clicking on "select") the last selection "All" was already selected then i click on tiny arrow then i select "distribution lists".
I just tried to do the same, and my distribution lists are also shown under "All". Please upgrade KMail to 1.9.7 and see if it works.
Comment 4 Philippe ROUBACH 2007-06-16 12:49:22 UTC
Test with 1.9.7 version kmail(fresh MDV 2007.1 and kmail 1.9.7 installation)

i created a distribution list "Famille" in the sole addressbook "resource"

nothing is displayed neither when selecting "distribution lists" nor "resource"

the only way to select my "Famille" distribution list is in the field "TO" in the new message to type "F" then "ressource" appears with under "Familly"

this extension seems buggy .

The "select" dialog now shows the distribution lists on the list. Tested in current trunk (KDE4.3 svn r948595)
