Version: 0.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux /etc/login.defs allows setting min/max values for automatic uid selection in useradd e.g. UID_MIN 2000 UID_MAX 60000 However, System Settings -> User Managment ignores the lower value (it may well ignore the upper value, too, I haven't checked) and instead starts at 1000.
The expected behavior would be for System Settings -> User Managment to start with the minimum value specified by UID_MIN in /etc/login.defs
Still present in KDE 3.5.9 $ apt-cache showpkg kde Package: kde Versions: 5:47 (/var/lib/apt/lists/fi.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hardy_universe_binary-amd64_Packages)
