Description S. Burmeister 2007-06-10 10:57:03 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs
OS:                Linux

When I open kopete's video-settings with my Logitech Fusion (uvcvideo v4l2 driver) xsession-errors is spamed with:

read error 19, Kein passendes Gerät gefunden

Translated: No suitable device found.

The webcam is not activated, i.e. the blue-light for "on" is not switched on. Ekiga as well as kdetv can handle that webcam.

ls -la /dev/video*
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root      6 10. Jun 10:36 /dev/video -> video0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 10. Jun 10:36 /dev/video0

The video-device seems to be present.

Although I did not succeed in making a video call to somebody else on MSN the picture is now shown in kopete's settings with recent svn-version of uvc-video driver because it implemented the read-method which kopete apparently needs.

Hi,

i also have a logitech fusion. have the same problem: the webcam is working on the setting dialog but no success in video call.
Sorry to Matt but it's not what I call working !!

i have Kubuntu 7.10, Kopete: 0.12.7, KDE 3.5.8

If a video call does not work, it does not necessarily mean that it is because of the webcam not working, but e.g. firewalls, routers etc. Did you check those possibilites out? I think it is very unlikely that the webcam works in settings but not for a call _if_ the connection between the two people can be established.
