Description 2007-06-06 04:52:36 UTC
Version: 1.9.7 (using KDE 3.5.7, Mandriva Linux release 2007.1 (Official) for x86_64)
Compiler: Target: x86_64-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.21.3-tmb-desktop-1mdvsmp

After runing kmail, when clicking in kmail systray icon it doesnt stay in some place like happens with all other systray apps icons.
Comment 1 2007-06-06 05:01:37 UTC
This is only valid if option in the configure window in separator Appearance, in tab System Tray:

System Tray: Only Show Kmail in system tray only if there are unread messages

if the option "Always Show Kmail in system tray" is selected then the kmail systray icon haves a correct behaviour when clicked, it continues in same place.

Seems like the problem already described in bug 131476.

Why not tell me instead why you thing this is not a duplicate?

BTW, what do you mean exactly by "it doesnt stay in some place"?
Comment 6 2007-06-08 02:42:51 UTC
ok ill think the best way is to explain with 2 screenshots, in the first screen shot you will see kmail icon systray in a certain position, and in the 2 screenshot you will see kmail systray icon in the position most to right in systray instead continue in the same position where was firstly positioned.

But of course this only happens if the option:
"Only Show Kmail in system tray only if there are unread messages"

that exists in kmail configuration windows inside "Appearance" in tab "System Tray", but this already explained in Comment #1

Is this a bug so hard to fix??

It's worst than a change of place. If you want to use gnome or any other window manager. All kde systray icon are ok but kmail. Basically the systray icon seems to be detroy and recreated every time and so on gnome that means that the ican cannot be anymore in the bar but in a new window on the desktop. The bug is still present in kde4 version unfortunatly...

I can confirm this on current 4.3trunk
Comment 12 Martin Koller 2009-08-17 21:26:28 UTC
I assume this can not be solved, as the systemtray plasma applet is responsible for showing/positioning the systray-icons.
Kmail only calls show/hide on the icon - nothing more, and it does not recreate the systray-icon.
I tested the same problem with a different application (kbackup) where I can turn on/off the systray docking - same behavior.
