Description Maciej Pilichowski 2007-06-03 12:35:44 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

I have currently 6 email accounts and I cannot to get to them via KMail. The problem is that KMail tries to download mail from all of them at once and I get error "cannot connect to host xyz". But when I connect manually one by one to them, there is no problem.

Please, either do not download mail at once from all accounts by default, or provide option to control this.

I do not have such problems when one host is unavailable. Fixing such bug with yet another option does not seem the way to go.

Instead, I'll turn this into a bug report. It still should download all other accounts.

Bram,

All of them are available -- well, I guess I didn't say it right.

This -- "check mail in"
1 -> ...
2 -> ...
3 -> ...
4 -> ...
5 -> ...
6 -> ...

does not work too well because my connection is jammed my 6 requests. All hosts are technically available but since KMail tries to get from them at once they block each other.

So I suggest this
1 -> ... finish, 2 -> ... finish, 3 -> ... etc.

As you can see 2 starts when 1 finishes, 3 starts when 2 finishes, etc. There is no blocking.

Try to add the following to your kmailrc (in .kde/share/config) :
[Network]
MaxConnectionsPerHost=1

If that works, I guess this can be transformed into a wish again (adding this hidden config option to the GUI)

Thomas, thank you. However I cannot test it fully because now I have faster connection :-)

It was confirmed in another bug report, so I'll change this to a wish.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
