Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Debian stable Packages Reported in Debian BTS at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=416306 If you go into KDE's control centre --> System Admin --> Login Manager: click the 'Users' tab and turn on 'Sort Users' for the KDM graphical login, this will configure the alphabetical sort of users in the KDM login list. On a rather vanilla install of Etch RC2, KDM doesn't appear to be respecting this setting, placing the user 'sheridan' before 'root'. No amount of setting manipulation makes an impact in the KDM config file. In fact, I copied the config file over to my Etch desktop (which is a 7 month old upgrade from Sarge) the same version of KDM respects this and sorts the list so 'root' comes before 'sheridan' I checked the passwd files in case that KDM wasn't looking at this setting at all, however, in both files the root entry comes before the 'sheridan' user entry.
Hi, I can confirm that as of lenny today with all the available updates, this now works. Given the amount of packages that just came through it's difficult to know why this suddenly works, we can just be thankful that it does :) I think this bug could be closed now. -- Regards, Sheridan Hutchinson Sheridan@Shezza.org
