I've recently updated to KDE 3.5.7 and it still doesn't work as it should. I'm using "Group similiar tasks: always" in taskbar preferences. Other applications are grouping just fine. To be sure that this is not related to my user profile I've tried this on clean install of system & KDE with clean user account. Result was exactly the same. Loaded plugins: none Backtraces: none :( How to reproduce: set "group similiar tasks" to always and open two or more konsole windows Expected behaviour: all konsole windows should be grouped into one tab on taskbar. I'm using PLD Linux, official binary package. Both spec and patches used for building KDE for PLD are available in CVS. It may be accessed via WWW at http://cvs.pld-linux.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/
Just to clarify, this problem occurred for you with both KDE 3.5.6 AND KDE 3.5.7? There is a known bug with an attribute of Konsole windows which may affect this in KDE 3.5.7, but that won't apply to KDE 3.5.6 - assuming your 3.5.6 Konsole doesn't have any additional patches added. For the record, grouping works correctly on my PC (Kubuntu 7.04) with KDE 3.5.6 and not with my local KDE 3.x build of Konsole ( which should be the same as KDE 3.5.7 ) See this report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83974 Possibly relevant patch which applies to Qt: http://websvn.kde.org/branches/qt/3.3/qt-copy/patches/0078-argb-visual-hack.patch?revision=669487&view=markup
Thanks for information Robert! Rebuilding QT with patch #0078 fixed the problem (tested on KDE 3.5.7). No additional changes/rebuilds were required. And yes, I had this problem on 3.5.6 too, but it is possible that it was affected due to patches applied for PLD KDE build.
Thanks for confirming that. Marked as a duplicate of #83974. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 83974 ***
