Description 2007-05-28 01:57:52 UTC
Version: 0.12.5 (using KDE 3.5.7, compiled sources)
Compiler:          Target: x86_64-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.20.11-tmb-desktop-1mdv

I start kopete and enter in the configuration window, click in Devices tab and webcam appears in black and i also see that the "Standard" option doesnt have anything.
So i close configuration window and reopen it, but now in devices tab in option "Standard" appears "None" however the webcam continues apeparing black but now inside "controls" tab when moving the item "Whiteness" i can see that i start viewing me in webcam but whats weird is that the image in flashing like someone was closing and opening the lights in my room.

Conclusion: its only possible to vew the webcam flashing and only after opening the configuration window by the second time when then appears "None" in Standard option inside "Devices" tab, because if in the "Standard" option doesnt apepar anything, isnt even possible to see the webcam flashing when moving "Whiteness" to maximum.

Please update. Fixes were committed to the KDE 3.5.x branch that might make things work
Comment 3 2007-06-17 04:33:05 UTC
i have installed kdenetwrok svn release 676506 and this bug continues being valid.
Comment 4 2007-07-06 20:56:16 UTC
This bug is still valif with kdenetwork branch_3.5 svn release 683961.

Kopete its useless to me since isnt possible to have the webcam working in it.

The Standard combo box does nothing, and its changes don't affect video in any way. It's being addressed in the latest development version, but have in mind it only affects video capture devices that handle analog video sources, as CCTV / TV cards.
Webcams don't have standards to begin with, cause they don't have to handle standard-coded analog signals, so this issue is irrelevant to webcams.
Please check with latest versions (3.5.8 and later) if this bug still applies, and report if positive or negative. In case of positive, please add more information, as

Webcam manufacturer and model;
If an USB device, USB's vendor ID and device ID;
Kernel module used to communicate with the webcam;
Debug info from Kopete's console output.

If not reported back in two weeks I'll close the bug as WORKSFORME, as I'm unable to reproduce the bug with any of the devices I currently use to test Kopete. Please report back asap so we can handle this bug the best way we can.
