Description Radha Krishna 2007-05-23 14:31:02 UTC
Version: kontact 1.2.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

In Bug 48461: kmail should remember smtp password, users asked for this feature and was implemented in kde 3.5.7 . It is a great feature for anyone who has a short session.

I do not log out off kde for days/weeks. So it would be good to have an option of making kmail not to remember the passwords also. What I am suggesting is to have options like what gnome presents.
(atleast in the settings).

1) Store SMTP password in kwallet.
2) Remember SMTP password for this session.
3) DO not remember SMTP password.

This would be a very helpfull feature for people working in a lab and not worrying about other people sending email through your smtp account

Radha Krishna

It is already possible to not store the password at all, just untick the checkbox in the account settings.

Therefore, only an option to remember the SMTP password for this session is missing, right?

Nope,
I have the option "store SMTP password " unchecked. It still remembers the password for the session.
My belief was checking "store SMTP password " would store the password
permanently in kwallet for all sessions.

OK, so you are basically missing an option to not store the password at all, right?

And the "store password" checkbox should be replaced with a combobox giving all three options, correct?
Comment 4 Radha Krishna 2007-05-23 18:22:31 UTC
Yes. The option to not store the passwords (not even for the session) is missing.

Ok, changing but title to reflect that.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
