Description Mats Ahlgren 2007-05-20 06:36:00 UTC
Version: 1.9.6 (using KDE 3.5.6 "release 64.1" , openSUSE )
Compiler: Target: x86_64-suse-linux
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.20-rt8-default

In the message pane, the following items are displayed in the symbol font ("Greek"):

- the title of the message
- "from:"
- "to:"
- "date:"

This is ridiculous, but should also be trivial to fix. Please fix soon, thank you.

Typically one has to wait a tiny bit after starting for it kick in; I'm sure a review of the relevant code will reveal the bug.

Please let the developers make assumptions on how easy things are to fix, unless you know the KMail source by heart.

And can you be more specific about "a tiny bit"? Is it after opening certain messages or attachments?

At first glance this looks rather like a configuration issue but I could be wrong. Just to be sure, check your font settings in the KDE Control Center and the KMail settings.

No I can't, sorry. Before, it would happen after a few minutes-hours of use. Now, it happens all the time when I first open the application.

None of my font settings, e.g. fixed-width, are set to such a font.

I've never seen or heard of anything like this. Do you see the same problem with a newly-created user?
Comment 4 Philip Rodrigues 2007-05-21 23:48:17 UTC
Probably related to bug 145700
Comment 5 Drazen Tomic 2008-05-02 12:04:14 UTC
Have the same bug on KMail (Kontakt Version 1.2.4 (enterprise 20070904.708012), Suse 10.3).
Suddenly (apparently with no reason) the message display windows switches to "Standard Symbol L".
To fix I need either to restart KMail, or to switch manually back to "sans serif".
Comment 6 Martin Koller 2009-08-29 12:07:04 UTC
As KDE 4.3 has a completely rewritten message list view and I never encountered this problem, I'm closing this bug.
If you can still see this problem with a recent KDE version, please reopen.
