Description Stoian Ivanov 2007-05-12 10:36:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-4.1.x Gentoo
OS: Linux

Can we have a small monitor that will restart key components when they crash? I've just had to logoff-logon just to start kwin as it was not in my run dialog hostory and the kayboard input was not functionating

I am using KDE 3.4.0 level 'b' and for some reason KWIN crashes and all remaining windows are unusable. I have to restart session (SUSE 9.3 Professional) to fix it.
If this bug can be fixed can i patch my version of KDE/KWIN?

The easiest solution would be not to use a 3 year old KDE version but upgrade to something more recent - eg Suse 10.1 or 10.2... ;-)

Fixing just this bug would require finding out exactly which one it is, getting and patching the Kwin sourcecode, then rebuilding kwin and running it. This proces is pretty complex. So, I recommend upgrading.
