Description Andrea 2007-04-12 10:07:46 UTC
Version: 1.6.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.6 [FreeBSD] 20060305
OS: FreeBSD

Konsole does not see the installed "Fixedsys Excelsior 3.01" TrueType font, both if installed as a user font or system-wide. All other KDE apps can find and use this font.

Konsole also ignores some other user-installed TrueType monospaced fonts (but not all of them).

If you need to install the Fixedsys font to test it, it can be found at:

Thanks,
Andrew

Fixed in KDE 4. The user can choose from all available fonts, even those which are not monospace.

Unfortunately some fonts which are advertised as being 'monospaced' are not as far as the font libraries that Qt uses are concerned, which is how KDE decides what shows up in the font selection box. If I remember correctly there was a popular font creation tool which used to set one particular character to a different width than all the others which caused problems for example.
